Searchly vs Ahrefs Brand Radar

Searchly tracks the buyer prompts you choose on a fixed allowance from $99 a month, with AI crawler logs, GA4 AI visits, Search Console and AI shopping beside the answers. Ahrefs Brand Radar researches a market-wide prompt index and bills custom prompts by the check.

Compared from Ahrefs's own pricing and documentation, checked Oct 26, 2026. How we compare

Our verdict

Our pick: Searchly

Searchly is the better choice for most teams tracking their own AI visibility. For about the price of Brand Radar's checks alone on the same workload ($90 to $100 a month, est.), Searchly Starter ($99) has no per-check overage. Starter also includes Search Console, the REST API and the MCP server, which Ahrefs lists on its own plans (Search Console from $129 a month). It adds AI shopping, which Brand Radar does not document, plus Opportunities and an Agent that works on your tracking data, with nothing else to buy.

strengths

Where Searchly comes out ahead.

From each company's own pricing pages and documentation, checked Oct 26, 2026. Each point links to its source.

Where Searchly is stronger

  • Search Console beside the AI evidence for each page on every plan, Starter included, with AI crawler logs and GA4 AI visits in the same place. Ahrefs' GSC Insights comes with Ahrefs plans from $129 a month, not with the Brand Radar packs. Source
  • Every one of your 50 prompts runs on all three engines every day for $99 a month, with no per-check overage. Brand Radar's $50 Basic pack holds 2,500 checks, a little over half of the 4,500 or so this workload uses (est.); past the pack, checks bill as overage or stop when pay-as-you-go is off. Source
  • Opportunities (a ranked list of next steps tied to the evidence) and an Agent that reads your Searchly data and proposes new prompts or competitors you confirm, on every paid plan. Ahrefs documents no recommendations queue for Brand Radar, and its agent workspace, Letaido, is a separate product. Source
  • AI shopping on every plan, Starter included: the products ChatGPT shows for your prompts, whose they are, their price, rating and retailer and where they rank. Ahrefs does not document AI shopping tracking. Source
  • The REST API, the MCP server and CSV exports of answers, prompts and crawler logs on every plan, Starter included. Ahrefs lists API and MCP access on Ahrefs Lite and up but does not document it for buyers of the Brand Radar packs alone. Source

Where Ahrefs focuses

  • A separate research index of 493M+ prompts, re-tested monthly with history from 2025, for brands you do not track yourself; it is priced apart from the prompt packs at $199 a month for one platform or $699 for all. Source
  • Seven platforms for custom prompts, including Google AI Mode, Copilot and Gemini, with Claude at 8 checks an update; every prompt, platform and location draws on the pack's check budget. Source

pricing

The same workload, priced on both.

One brand, 50 buyer prompts on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity, checked once a day in one country: a common base for AI visibility tracking. Every Searchly plan includes all three engines; where Ahrefs counts or includes engines differently, the note says so.

fit

Which one to choose.

Choose Searchly if…

you want a fixed allowance for your own buyer prompts, plus Search Console, AI crawler logs, GA4 AI visits, AI shopping and the Agent in one subscription from the first plan.

Ahrefs may suit you if…

you mainly research AI visibility across brands and topics you do not track yourself, from a pre-collected index, and you already work in Ahrefs.

switching

Moving from Ahrefs, or running both.

  1. Your prompts.Brand Radar charts download as CSV or export to Google Sheets, and the data also leaves through the Ahrefs API (Ahrefs Lite and up) or the Looker Studio connector. Source In Searchly, paste or upload your prompts as CSV. Prompts you add are tracked at once; the ones Searchly suggests wait until you accept them.
  2. Competitors.Add the competitors you follow in Ahrefs. Searchly benchmarks the ones you choose.
  3. History.Past results stay in Ahrefs. Scores are not comparable between tools, because engines, collection methods and formulas differ, so compare trends from the same start date.
  4. Site data.Connect Google Analytics 4 and Search Console read-only, and send AI crawler logs from Cloudflare, Vercel, Netlify, WordPress, Next.js or the HTTP API by following a setup guide. Searchly installs nothing on your site.
  5. Run both.Track the same prompts in both tools during the 14-day Pro trial before you decide.

evaluation

Put both tools to the test.

Use your own brand, the same buyer prompts and the same dates in both tools. Ask the other vendor these three questions.

  • Does the custom prompt pack work on its own or also need an Ahrefs plan, and what is the total a month?
  • How many checks do 50 prompts on three platforms use each month, and what happens when the pack runs out?
  • Which Ahrefs plan adds Search Console, the API and MCP to the prompt pack, and what does it add to the monthly bill?
